Our Chili-Pepper
In India, chilli peppers are widely farmed. In the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, red chillies are farmed on 792,000 hectares of land. India produces about 1,376,000 million tonnes of red chiles annually. Thirty per cent of these chillies are exported from India, while seventy per cent are consumed domestically. The premium quality of chillies shipped from India has led to an increase in the import of chilli peppers.
